Author Bio

Ali Mehilba was born in 1952 in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. He graduated in 1976 from Alexandria University, Faculty of Medicine, and chose psychiatry as his specialization. 
 
While a physician by education, Mehilba pursued a career in real estate development and established, what became later, one of the most renowned real estate firms in Egypt and the region.
 
He designed and instructed the first graduate course for Real Estate in the Arab world and taught it.
In 2002 Ali Mehilba discovered his passion in banknote collection, and founded the Arabic Chapter of the International Banknote Society (IBNS) which he chairs to date.
 
He is also the founder and chairman of the Arabic Association for Currency Collectors (AACC), which aims at raising awareness about paper money in the Arab World.
 
Mehilba is the author of “the Encyclopedia of Libya Paper Money,” awarded ‘Book of the Year 2010’ by the International Bank Note Society (IBNS).
 
Dr. Ali Mehilba is married to Karima Ammar, and is the father of one daughter, Abeer, and 4 sons Abd El-Rahman, Abdallah, Abd El-Rahim, and Omar. He is the grandfather of Maryam, Fares, Youssef, Sara, Malika, Tamara, Maya and Malek
Ali Mehilba is poet, with several publications in both printed and electronic media.
